Modeling Pennsylvania Shortlines / Call for Speakers

Published: 22 August 2026

If you model a Pennsylvania shortline, please contact us!

This is in relation to a possible 2027 edition of the Central Pennsylvania Shortlines RPM. We're starting to put together a list of potential speakers to see if there is enough interest.

The emphasis would be on modeling of shortlines; secondarily we would welcome potential speakers on prototype subjects.

So speask up; let us know who you are and how you might help our community! Thank you!

CPS RPM Update

Published: 04 June 2025

The Central Pennsylvania Shortlines RPM is just a few weeks away! Have you registered yet? The event has a maximum capacity and we are halfway there. Don't miss out! Visit https://rpm.pennsyrr.com/index.php/cps-registration.

We have 10 clinics scheduled and have room for one more on Friday evening. Do you have a presentation that you would care to share with the group? If so, please contact Jerry via https://rpm.pennsyrr.com/index.php/cps-contact-us.

For Sunday, several factors have led us to pivot away from the Everett Railroad visit. H&BTM #38 has been moved to a location that is not conducive to tours and the railroad will not be running an excursion on the 20th. That said, we felt that few attendees would make the one hour drive west for an otherwise "generic" shop tour. We will keep the Everett on our "short list" for future events.

We will return to the East Broad Top Railroad on Sunday. We are taking the 10:30 a.m. excursion and we will be trying to reserve coach space so we can all sit together. Following the excursion will be a shop tour. Transportation and tickets are on your own.

The web site has been updated, including the clinic schedule. We hope to see you in July!

Registration Open for CPS RPM 2025!

Published: 30 April 2025

Registration is now open for the Central Pennsylvania Shortlines Railroad Prototype Modelers (CPS RPM) Meet 2025!

The event will be held July 18-20th in Mt. Union, Pennsylvania. Attendance will be limited to 75 due to restrictions of the venue. So register sooner than later using the registration form on the web site at https://rpm.pennsyrr.com/index.php/cps-registration.

Our venue is once again the Bricktown Museum which features a large HO scale depiction of the Pennsylvania Railroad and the East Broad Top Railroad. It will be available for viewing throughout the event, as will a display of models. Yes! Bring models! No judging... we just want to see what everyone is doing!

The event will kick off Friday afternoon with three model railroad open houses in State College and an operating session in Mt. Union.

We'll have clinics after dinner and then resume for clinics all day Saturday. We have toom for 1-3 more clinics, so if you have something pertinent to say, please contact Jerry Britton via the web page: https://rpm.pennsyrr.com/index.php/cps-contact-us.

Again, space is limited, so get your registration in soon!

Scope of CPS RPM Adjusted; SPS RPM Under Consideration

Published: 15 January 2025

As plans for the 2025 edition of the Central Pennsylvania Shortlines (CPS) RPM move forward, the scope has been adjusted to align with long range planning.

We feel it is important to keep the focus of the event narrow, as attendees likely have interest in a specific shortline or geographic area. We don't want to "water down" the event by, for instance, including all shortlines in Pennsylvania. That might reduce one's interest in the event to only one clinic, or perhaps none at all.

The CPS RPM previously included shortlines from Perry county. Perry is being cast off (see below) and we are adding Cambria, Clearfield, Snyder, and Union counties.

This opens the scope to a few more shortlines, which you can review here: https://rpm.pennsyrr.com/index.php/cps-shortlines.

So, what happened to Perry county? Well, we are working towards creating a Southcentral Pennsylvania Shortlines (SPS) RPM event to occur in years alternating with the CPS RPM, starting in 2026.

The SPS RPM's scope will be Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties.

You can review the list of SPS-relevant shortlines here: https://rpm.pennsyrr.com/index.php/sps-shortlines.

The SPS RPM isn't a "done deal" yet. We are exploring host locations and venues which could support such an event.

Watch https://rpm.pennsyrr.com for future updates. We hope to see you this July at the CPS RPM!
